What inspired you to pursue a career in mobility, and how did you find your way into EV roaming?
Martina: After finishing my Law degree, I decided to take a different path and move into the corporate world. I wanted to make a real contribution to sustainability and work in a fast-moving, constantly evolving space. For me, legal knowledge isn’t something that should sit in isolation, it should help drive meaningful change.
Pretty early on, I realized how powerful legal frameworks and good collaboration can be when it comes to making things happen. That’s actually what led me to roaming. It’s the perfect mix of my legal background and my passion for sustainability. In e-mobility, roaming isn’t just a technical detail, it’s what makes cross-border collaboration possible. It turns complex agreements into real-world solutions and helps make EV charging more seamless and accessible across Europe.
Many people may not fully understand EV roaming – can you explain what it is and why it’s so important for the future of e-mobility?
Martina: Roaming makes it possible for EV drivers to charge their cars at different stations, even if they’re run by different providers, all through one single platform. It’s key to making charging easier, helping more people switch to electric, and building a system that can grow across borders.
At the heart of roaming are partnerships. By using shared standards and agreements, roaming allows charge point operators (CPOs) and e-mobility service providers (EMSPs) to work together smoothly. The result? A seamless charging experience for drivers all over Europe.
Now as Head of Roaming, what leadership values do you bring to your role, and how do you inspire your team to drive innovation in the mobility sector?
Martina: My leadership values combine strategic vision and innovation. My team is productive because we share the same core principles – empowering connections, exploring with purpose and curiosity, and owning our impact on e-mobility. I am very proud of my team, as everyone takes ownership of initiatives to improve and evolve the system. They bring new ideas and show determination, driven by my mentorship and inspiration, to grow within the industry and create lasting value for the future.
Can you share a project or accomplishment that you are most proud of and how it has made a difference in EV roaming and mobility?
Martina: I’m more than just a project – I’ve become the go-to person for building roaming across Europe. And honestly, I’m proud to say I’m one of the first women in this industry. My senior management even gave me the nickname “Miss Roaming,” which still makes me smile.
My goal is to turn roaming into a truly universal access system that makes life easier and the entire EV charging experience smoother.
Right now, I’m leading a working group as the only woman in the project and with some of the top names in the industry through eViolin. I’m focused on something that really matters: standardising the billing process so we can finally move past the pain points in roaming invoicing.
As a woman in a traditionally male-dominated industry, what challenges have you faced, and how do you support other women in mobility?
Martina: High-stakes negotiations across Europe are still mostly led by men – but I truly believe that women bring something powerful to the table: emotional intelligence. It’s what helps drive agreements forward and close deals in a way that satisfies both sides.
Being the only woman in a room full of men, negotiating contracts to build roaming partnerships, isn’t always easy. Emotions are often shaped by the male perspective -but empathy, our strength, is what truly leads to meaningful partnerships.
This is exactly what the Move Award represents for me, and it’s also the core of my personal mission in e-mobility: to bring more women into the EV industry.

What trends or innovations in mobility excite you the most, and how do you see the future of EV roaming evolving in the next five years?
Martina: Roaming is evolving, both in its meaning and in how industry players behave. It’s becoming universal, with standardized protocols across countries to ensure full compatibility. By aligning systems and billing processes, we’re moving toward true global harmonization: Cross-Border Roaming.
What really fascinates me is the rise of circular smart charging, the strategies that prioritize recharging with renewable energy. In this ecosystem, energy is the real protagonist.
Looking ahead, I believe we’ll see a real decentralization of the market. Individuals will actively contribute by sharing their private chargers on roaming platforms, supporting companies and accelerating the shift to a more connected, sustainable future.
If someone asked why they should vote for you for the MOVE Woman in Mobility Award, what would you say?
Martina: I’m a role model and source of inspiration for women in our community. As a single mother, I’ve learned to balance life and work while staying bold, pushing forward innovation and new ideas in e-mobility, often in male-dominated spaces. I’m a woman who’s here to support other women, to help them succeed in this industry. I believe in shaping the future of sustainability with an inclusive approach, and that future starts by empowering women.
